At Salem Church of Kingston, we cherish the people who help us grow in faith, love, and laughter—and that includes our beloved Pastor Dave. Whether you know him well or are just getting acquainted, we’re excited to share a little more about the heart behind the pulpit.
What led you to ministry, and how did you feel called to serve?
Pastor Dave has always had a deep connection to the church. From his earliest days as an acolyte to serving as youth ministry president, choir member, Sunday school teacher, finance chair, and trustee treasurer, his faith has been central to his life. But it was while serving as a lay speaker—offering sermons to local churches—that something clicked. “I had this supernatural feeling that I had done something that really mattered,” he says. That call grew stronger, and nearly seven years ago, he began the journey to become a licensed local pastor. With God’s guidance, and support from his pastor, he stepped fully into ministry—just like the prophet Jeremiah, trusting that God would provide the words.
Do you have a favorite Bible verse?
Jeremiah 1:4–10 holds special meaning for Pastor Dave. The passage tells of Jeremiah’s call and his uncertainty—something Dave relates to deeply. “Becoming a pastor brings questions,” he shares. “What do I say? How do I help people in crisis? But God shows you how. Like Jeremiah, I trusted that God would put the words in my mouth.”
What’s something people might not know about you?
Pastor Dave has a great sense of humor and isn’t afraid to show it—especially when he sports one of his pastor-themed graphic tees. Outside of church, he loves woodworking, a hobby he picked up with his dad that continues to bring him joy. He’s also a fan of pizza and enjoys weekly dinner dates with his wife, Tina.
What do you love most about serving at Salem Church of Kingston?
“The people,” he says without hesitation. But beyond that, he’s inspired by the way the sanctuary fills more and more each week. “We’re growing, and that’s a sign to me that God is moving in this place. I feel honored to be a part of it.”
How can we support and encourage you?
Pastor Dave feels blessed by the kindness he receives each week—whether it’s a quick thank you after a sermon or a word of encouragement in passing. “Even the smallest moments remind me that God is at work.”
🕊️ We invite you to join us this Sunday at 9 am and get to know Pastor Dave for yourself—he might even be wearing one of his signature shirts. Come for the message, stay for the community, and know that you are welcome here.
